Dr. Marschner Foundation Regional Feature Film Award
This contest duly celebrates the versatile film culture of the Rhine-Main region. This selection offers something for everybody – and it will be exciting: Who will be the one taking the “Bembel” and the 3.000€ home this year?
Jury Prize of Evangelische Filmarbeit
The new purple LICHTER Bembel: This year, for the first time at the LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International, the jury of Evangelische Filmarbeit will award a purple LICHTER Bembel! Every month for over 70 years, the jury has awarded a current cinema film as "Film of the Month". At the 2023 festival, the jury will award a regional or international feature film from this year's LICHTER programme and present the purple Bembel at the awards ceremony on 23 April.
The prize is endowed with 500€.
Filmhaus Frankfurt Newcomer Prize
This year, for the second time, Filmhaus Frankfurt will award the Newcomer Prize for the targeted promotion of talented young filmmakers, the "Filmhaus Gerippte", to the director and/or producer of a short film from the Regional Competition at the LICHTER Filmfest.
The winners are selected by the LICHTER Short Film Jury. The prize money of 500€ will be awarded as a seminar and technical voucher at Filmhaus Frankfurt. This is intended to support the next project or to encourage people to continue.
LICHTER Regional Short Film Award
Telling a story within a short period of time, whereas some would take about 90 minutes, is true art. As we from LICHTER treasure this kind of filmmaking, we have once again compiled a top-class program of regional short films this year. The best regional short film will win the “Bembel” and 1,000€ in prize money.
LICHTER Art Award
The recognition of international film and video art has become a long-standing tradition at LICHTER. This year we have to choose the winner of the shiny “Bembel” and 1,000€ out of more than 100 submissions from different countries.
LICHTER VR Storytelling Award
VR is alive! In the finale of the LICHTER VR Storytelling Award, five films compete for an original Frankfurt “Bembel” and 1,000€ of absolutely non-virtual prize money.
LICHTER Audience Award
The biggest jury of our festival is our audience. All feature films of the festival that have not been released in theatres until the end of the festival will compete for the LICHTER Audience Award. So buy tickets and watch and vote for your favourite film.
